Paper Christmas Tree Centerpiece

Hello everyone!! I hope your holidays are going smoothly!! I've gotten my Christmas cards made and I made some treat bags for the kids classmates so I sat down to create something for myself.

I made a Paper Christmas Tree Centerpiece for my dining room table. Lately my crafts have been a bit *blue* - not sad or depressing but blue as in the color blue - SO I decided to go with red and brown with some white in there for fun. I found this paper pack at Michaels it's called Frosty Cabin and it's super cute!

I saw this on Michaels Make It With Joy a while back made with ribbon and I thought it was SO cute - that I had to make one for myself!!

I purchased a 4" square wooden plaque, 1/4" x 12" wooden dowels and a 1" wooden doll head from Michaels. I also purchased the paper pack from Michaels. I had some metallic paint on hand (DecoArt - Rich Espresso) that worked perfectly for the wood base, dowel and top. The first thing I did was drill a hole in the center of the base and then painted it.

I decided to use paper instead of ribbon, and rosettes instead of wooden wheels. The rest is similar. I started at the bottom with 5.5" strips of paper and I hole punched the end to go on the dowel and cut the other end like ribbon. For the rosettes I used two - 1" x 11" strips of green paper and cut little 1" squares with a hole punched in the center and glued these to the top and bottom of the rosette leaving space in the center so I could slide it over the dowel. I started with a rosette at the bottom, then added paper ribbon strips. I used the same size on two levels and arranged the strips to make the tree look full. I alternated with rosettes and paper strips using shorter strips of paper as I went up the tree. I finished the tree with the wooden doll head at top. I used wood glue at the top and bottom to secure the dowel.

Whatever craft you are working on I hope you are enjoying your time with it. Try to take a deep breath and focus on creating special for yourself or for a loved one as often as you can. You will be rewarded for all your hard work when you see your awesome masterpiece come to life!!

Merry Christmas All!!
